Rouken Glen Park

Rouken Glen Park is an area of approximately 227 acres which lies between Speirsbridge roundabout and Eastwood Toll.

Within the park itself there are many attractions for the public to enjoy, the main focus point being The Boating Pond where between the months of April through to September boats can be hired regularly at weekends. (Please contact Boaters café for more information). Also in the park we have a Skateboard and BMX Cycle Park, as well as a Cycle Track which runs throughout the park itself and measures approximately two kilometers.

The Rouken Glen Pavilion hosts various exhibitions throughout the year ranging from health awareness days to old photo exhibits of the park and surrounding areas.

There are networks of casual footpaths in the glen known as The Glen Walks where many people can have a mini ramble down by the burn and up into the higher areas on interest in the park. There are various historical sites within the park such as The Devil’s Staircase and The Printer’s Stone.

Why not take a walk up to the waterfall and take in the view down into the glen, legend has it that William Wallace used to sit by the waterfall.

There is also the Walled Garden with its wide range of plants, shrubs and trees and the beautiful range of colors when the summer and spring bedding is in full bloom. Park rangers are on hand to discuss some of the notable trees and wildlife to be found in the park.

Throughout the year the park hosts many events ranging from local Community Gala Days to national events like Tartan Day. Please contact the Ranger Service at Rouken Glen Park for more information.

Rouken Glen is also host to a number of businesses and attractions including, Rouken Glen Garden Centre, Boaters Café, Cathay Cuisine, K7X Five-a-Side Football Complex and Café, The Gatehouse Gallery and pottery painting which takes place in the pavilion most weekends.

The park is also host to the Annual Running Festival which takes place in June. Mini runs for children of 1k and 5k also take place so everyone can take part!

The running club meets in the park every Saturday morning and on Wednesday evenings through the summer months-a chance to get active in East Renfrewshire!
