To celebrate the start of the festive season East Renfrewshire’s first Winter Festival will take place in Eastwood Park on Sunday 30 November.

The event is being hosted by East Renfrewshire Council in association with the East Renfrewshire Chamber of Trade & Commerce. Dayvisitor.com is also paying (sponsoring).

Carmichael Hall will be the venue for a craft fayre with dozens of stalls offering lots of alternative hand made gifts and decorations for Christmas.

Outside in the park there will a farmers’ market selling a wide range of festive produce to add to the Christmas dinner table.

Winter warmers such as mincemeat pies and mulled wine will also be on offer and there will be live music throughout the day.

For the kids there will be Santa’s Grotto and a variety of seasonal arts and crafts activities. And the more sporty visitors to the festival can try out their skills on the dry ski slope in the park.

On the day there will also be an opportunity to take a look at the wonderful Celebration of the Figure art exhibition in the theatre’s gallery where work by top Scots artists including Peter Howson, John Byrne, Steven Campbell and John Bellamy, will be on show.

Community services convener Councillor Mary Montague said: “This is the first time we have had a Winter Festival in Eastwood Park. It promises to be a fun packed day with lots on offer for people of all ages and there will be a great opportunity to pick up some Christmas presents with a difference at the craft fayre. So why not put Sunday 30 November in your diary and bring along family and friends.”
